P.S. I Love You, Wicklow Mountains !

Alright, I know all the cool folks got that reference I made in the title but for the folks whose movie taste isn’t quite on par with the cool folks, FYI: Parts of the movie P.S. I Love You were filmed in Wicklow National Park  :-). I can see why this movie, as well as a few other movies and T.V. shows you may have heard of (Braveheart, Leap Year, Vikings) chose this place as a filming location. It’s wild, rugged, and extremely beautiful.

Me, waiting for Gerry to show up ;-P

My personality tends to be a bit on the shy and awkward side and I was having trouble getting comfortable with taking photos while traveling solo. I am by no means a naturally graceful person. I trip, fall, and think I looked weird in general when trying to snap photos or do any sort of creative endeavor. Usually, I can just turn to my friends and travel companions and laugh when I do something weird, but I was officially on my own for the first time so I felt a bit more reserved than usual.

But this magical place seems to have an inspiring effect on people and the more I wandered, the more relaxed I became and the less reserved I was. I had so much fun snapping away and even enjoyed a few quiet spots all to myself.

Lough Tay, also known as Guinness Lake. Doesn’t it look like a delicious pint of Guinness?

Wicklow National Park is also home to Glendalough, an early medieval monastic site founded in the 6th century by Saint Kevin. You can wander around the ancient site and marvel at the beautiful old churches, a priest’s house, and the Round Tower.

Just an hour South out of Dublin,Wicklow Mountains National Park is a great place to relax, explore, and be inspired. The romance and tranquility that you find there is worlds away. Do not miss it on your visit to Ireland!
